Mr-Glass Sliding & Patio Doors: The Sarasota Owner’s Guide

If you have a Mr-Glass sliding or patio door that’s grinding, sticking, or leaking air, we stock the rollers, handles, locks, tracks, and weatherstripping to get it moving again. In Sarasota, a typical Mr-Glass sliding door parts repair runs $180 to $340 installed, and we carry the most common Mr-Glass hardware on our trucks so we can usually fix it in one visit. Most owners discover a problem when the door suddenly takes two hands to open, or when the afternoon heat makes the frame bind against the track. You didn’t break it. A decade of salt air, humidity, and daily use did.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass makes sliding glass doors and patio doors in a few distinct series, and the parts are not all interchangeable. The two you’ll see most often in Sarasota homes are the 7200 Series sliding patio door and the 8100 Series multi-slide door. The 7200 uses a twin-roller carriage that rides on a raised aluminum track, while the 8100 runs on a flat stainless track with a different roller profile entirely. Look for a white or silver sticker on the door’s vertical stile near the handle, or on the top edge of the panel. It’ll have the series number and sometimes the date of manufacture. If the sticker’s gone, measure the roller wheel diameter: 7200 rollers sit at 1-1/4 inches, the 8100 at 7/8 inch.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question, we’re direct with Sarasota customers. Mr-Glass OEM rollers, handles, and locks cost more, sometimes double, but they match the door’s factory tolerances exactly. Quality aftermarket equivalents from Prime-Line or Truth Hardware work fine for most 7200 doors and cost 30 to 40 percent less. Our rule: if the door is under a transferable warranty or you plan to sell the home soon, go OEM. If it’s a 15-year-old door and you want it sliding like new without overpaying, aftermarket gets you there. We’ll show you both prices and let you decide.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

  • The door takes real effort to open or close. This almost always means the roller bearings have worn flat or the wheels have picked up corrosion from Sarasota’s salt air. The fix is roller replacement, not lubricant.
  • It screeches or grinds along the track. Bad rollers drag metal on metal. Adding spray lube quiets it for about a week, then it comes back louder.
  • The door lifts or drops when you pull the handle. The roller adjustment screws have backed out or the roller housings have failed. That play wears out the track and the lock keeper fast.
  • You can see daylight or feel air moving around the closed panel. The weatherstripping along the interlock and the bottom sweep has compressed or torn. In a Sarasota summer, that’s your air conditioning escaping every afternoon.
  • The lock won’t fully engage or the handle flops loose. The internal lock linkage bends or the handle spring breaks. A door that doesn’t lock isn’t just annoying, it’s a security problem.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Around Sarasota, expect these installed ranges for Mr-Glass sliding and patio door parts:

  • Roller replacement (both panels): $180 to $260, including the new rollers, track cleaning, and panel re-alignment
  • Handle and lock set replacement: $120 to $210, including the interior and exterior handles, lock linkage, and strike adjustment
  • Weatherstripping and bottom sweep replacement: $90 to $160 for the full perimeter, materials included
  • Track repair or replacement: $220 to $340, depending on track length and whether the sill needs shimming

Every one of those prices includes parts, labor, and our workmanship warranty. We don’t hand you a lowball number and then add a “disposal fee” or a “trip charge” on the invoice. The price we quote is the price you pay. And if we’re out doing a Mr-Glass door that turns out to have a second issue, we’ll point it out and give you a written price before touching it. Ed Winslow’s name is on the door, literally, and that means we get it right.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself. Open the door and run your finger along the inside of the bottom track; if you feel nicks or see black dust, that’s roller wear. Push on the corners of the panel; movement means the rollers need adjustment or replacement. What you shouldn’t do is pull the door panel off the track. A Mr-Glass sliding panel with the glass in it weighs 150 to 250 pounds, and removing it without the right lifting blocks and a second person is how backs get thrown out and tempered glass gets cracked. If you want to know whether it’s a roller or a track problem, call (941) 267-0779 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth a service call.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."

HHenrietta Pemberton
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."
